Stanford is a city located in Santa Clara County, California. As of the 2000 census, the population of Stanford was 13,315. The city remains an unincorporated area of Santa Clara County and is adjacent to the city of Palo Alto. Additionally, the zip codes for Stanford, California are 94305 (Stanford University campus buildings) and 94309 (post-office boxes). Stanford is a private university located approximately 37 miles south of San Francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose.
